Matthew Kevin Gannon (August 11, 1954 – December 21, 1988) was a CIA Officer killed in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 by Abdelbaset al-Megrahi over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988. Gannon was an Arabist who spent much of his career serving in the Middle East. He married Susan Twetten, daughter of Thomas Twetten (later Deputy Director of Operations at CIA). Matthew and Susan met while Tom was Matthew's immediate supervisor. Some of his belongings were found in a bag which held the contents of a Catholic missal, its delicate pages damaged by exposure to the rains, a check for $43 protected in a plastic sleeve, and a plaid flannel shirt that Matt often wore. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, and honored with a star on the CIA Memorial Wall. In May 2012, the CIA officially confirmed that Gannon was a CIA officer.
